Each hand hewn mantel piece starts as a solid log from Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. They then get hand hewn down to either an 8×8 or 6×6 by our highly skilled team of artisans.These rustic looking beams are each differently unique from one another, they include nail holes, knots, and hand hewn marks. All mantels are kiln dried, making them suitable for long term use indoors.Wilson Woodcraft Mantels are superior to any old barn beam for this reason. These mantels will last for many years to come. These vintage mantels will look great above your fireplace. They will enhance the rustic look of any room. Rustic mantels are the perfect spot to display family photos, or any decor. They certainly will draw attention with their very rustic look. Each mantel is left natural. You can apply oil or stain to bring out the desired color in the wood to match your home decor. Mounting hardware is NOT included. These mantels are solid wood. Mounting should be done according to the wall construction wherever the mantel is displayed. Longer length mantels may be heavy and exceed 100 pounds. Product dimensions will vary slightly being that it is a natural wood product.
